    that show that people tend to overestimate risk when there appears to be a moral aspect to it (i.e., the persons causing the risk should not have done so) and the risk is not perceptible through our five senses.

    In this case, the antivaccination folks might find it shocking that the medicines supposed to help us (vaccines) instead hurt us.  Also, the fact that you can't see the chemicals that (they allege) can cause autism adds to their fear.
