    Yeah, SOME don't know the UCMJ inside and out... but, MANY do understand, from very early training, that "lawful" you do, "unlawful" you don't.

    Yeah, there ARE some barracks lawyers.  That happens when your father was an E-8 in the Navy, you had one uncle who a Naval JAG, another uncle who was military LE, another uncle who was military active and a brother who was military active... and YOU went military active yourself.

    Yeah, ALL soldiers rely on their commanders, superiors, to be right and NOT place them into situations.  

    But...

    The system breaks down when it comes to who is at fault.  The grunt pays... not the officer.

    And the UCMJ is not "more fair", it is simply "more rigid" in its application.  Laws are laws.  Articles are Articles.  They can both be applied fairly, blindly, or not.  In MY experience, officers on the outside used discretion to help people... and on the inside... officers used THEIR discretion to cover their own asses.

    The "rule of law"; it applies to you and me, but not the rich, the Republican or the celebrity. Welcome to America!
