  •  Obama and Dems need to hit back. (7+ / 0-)
When Obama sits and doesn't respond and call out McCain's lies it hurts Obama a lot. Most voters do not go out and do research, they don't go "hey I wonder If McCain is lying in that add or not?" The go, "Damn Obama, Mccain is right" regardless of the fact that McCain is lying and full of it.
McCain has been negatively attack for months now and it is showing in the polls. Obama used to have a 5% lead now its down to 3% and while McCain's approval ratings are going up and staying the same, Obama's are staying the same and going down.
Dem elected officials and the Obama campaign need to start calling McCain out on his lies, flip-flops, and bs, or else they might juts lose another presidency for us.
You can attack McCain without looking like you're a crafty politician. All you have to do is make sure that every time you attack him you are mentioning at least once in your attack one of McCain's lies or flip-flops. That way people think you are not really trying to be a crafty snarky attacker but just pointing out McCain's lies and such.

Here at D Kos, almost exactly 4 years ago, we were e-screaming at the Kerry campaign to "Hit back!  Hit back! Don't let this (the original Swiftboat ad and all the blathering heads chattering about it) go unanswered!".

The response (to people like us and on t.v.) was, "Oh, we're not worried.  That ad is so false and wrong and disgusting that there'll be a backlash and Americans won't buy into that stuff."

Well, and we know how that all went.

And now the Obama campaign seems to be saying, "Oh, we're not worried.  That ad is so false and wrong and disgusting that there'll be a backlash and Americans won't buy into that stuff."

      Jesus.

the most recent Gallup poll shows Obama's lead increasing to 9%.  And he is still doing very well in swing states.

The problem with these kinds McCain ads, blitzes, and sound bites is that they will become real in some  people's minds. It will just get added to a list that sound bites that is growing casting false doubt on Obama. I live in an area that votes 75% Democratic, yet I hear neighbors picking this stuff up. The proposed Obama ad above, or one like it, is not really an "attack" ad,  but rather it is setting the record straight and suggests truthfully that McCain should get his facts straight.

Whatever happened to 'War room' approach of Bill Clinton? I do not get the sense that Obama has anything like that in place. Yet I do get the sense that McCain does - as fumbling as they are.

Please Obama, use my 10 contributions to date to strongly refute these things!
