    If you say John McCain is confused again, you're obviously attacking him on his age. Gasp!

    That's terribly unfair, and just shows how desperate the Obama campaign is, because those charges he hates the troops are just too damaging.

    Or, that's probably how they'll try to spin it. If you're explaining, you're losing, but if you're a democrat - you're not allowed to defend yourself and you're certainly not allowed to go on the attack. Especially if your attack is based on truth.

    Besides - everyone except Obama knows the surge worked. (snark!)

    Don't mind me; I'm just a bit discouraged this morning by the prospect of months more of this garbage going down. The insidious thing about this kind of slime war the GOP is so good at is that even if McCain loses, they'll still make it that much harder for Obama to govern because all of the lies will keep resonating.

    While I like the idea of the response putting McCain on the defensive, I think it would even more effective if it could be done in a way that puts the whole GOP on the defensive. If you don't make it directly about McCain it can't be dismissed as a personal attack - but he still has to respond.
