    And attitudes about public smoking are changing in Europe too.

      I am from Norway and smoking in public areas is now forbidden here. The inspiration for the law very much came from the US. Probably would´t been possible without that.

      I was quite surprised to see how progressive some states were in that area (as the general impression is that americans hate regulations and make as few as possible).

      And as I said I read recently that american youngsters smoke less than young norwegians (and other europeans). That´s important for the future health situation (smoking numbers for teenagers/ young people probably doesn´t mean much for the present life expectancy as the harmful effects of smoking takes time to develope)
