    I appreciate your humility.

    But heroism isn't limited to only those who lost everything in their sacrifice.

    Just because the current era has a fetish for calling anyone who served their community in a war a "hero", regardless of their actual risk, sacrifice or success, doesn't mean that they're not.

    A hero is someone who risks their life or wellbeing for their community. Many of those people do indeed make it back. Perhaps including yourself.
