Back in the '80's, I was trying to get the Moonies kicked out of our university as they had falsely claimed to be a student group (getting student fee money funding from the student government) as a front for recruitment into the cult. They would also go to every leftist student rally (anti apartheid was especially big then, as well as anti Contras) and harrass our activists. We had to prepare for them and devote energy to surrounding their hecklers with a circle of people to stop them from drowning out our speakers and also trying to incite violence.

One time, I was walking through the student union and two of them, one of them in particular very big guy (football player sized) tried to physically intimidate me. Maybe it was my youthful passion, but I was not scared by their tactics, it just emboldened me.

Another time, a couple of them came over to my house, ostensibly to look at purchasing it (the house I was renting was for sale). They acted as though they did not recognize me. To this day, I don't know if it was a coincidence or psy ops or an intimidation tactic.

We finally got them kicked off campus after I ended my campaign to get rid of them. The student council didn't listen to me-- but one of the members who was sympathetic ran for student body president and won, and then put a referendum up which passed that changed the criteria for being classified as a student for student group memberships from one credit to six. That did it, the Moonies did not want to spend the money nor have their members exposed to six units of information, and they finally left the campus.
