    is that the presidency came in on a political realignment's climax, when bipartisan trust in Washington and the Presidency as an independent but equal office was at its highest. An entirely different pan-global war had consensus and popular approval from both parties.

    Kennedy, in reality, was not deserving of being considered one of our better presidents. On foreign policy. On civil rights he was dwarfed by both LBJ and Truman, and on domestic issues he pales next to FDR and Johnson.

    Obama will be a far better president than Kennedy, even if Obama is likely to not be half as loved.

    I know it's one word and your diary dealt with far more, but it's a word you summed up your diary with.
