That is the secret in how Bushco and Reaganco before him got people to vote against their own best interests.  They use a marketing scam to appeal to the greed of the voters.  They offer the chance to become one of "them" and to enjoy wealth and power. They make it seem likely you will be able to do so if you are intelligent and work hard.

And all they ask is that you vote against your own best interests, and against the interests of the disadvantaged and against the interests of those less fortunate than you.  Their clever propaganda makes it seem that those poor or disadvantaged folks don't deserve much because most of  them are lazy, or dishonest, or immoral, or just plain stupid.

And, they imply that you, being bright, industrious, honest and of high moral quality do not belong with those promiscuous breeders and bottom-feeders. No, you belong right up there with the wealthy Ueberklasse.  (Which, it is implied, that you will join very soon.)  It all seems so logical that you conclude that, actually,  you will be helping yourself when you vote to protect your (future) privilege and wealth from those lazy bums who would take it from you.

Ahhh, see how our Calvinistic puritanical world-view is used to trick us into voting against ourselves.  What would Jesus or the Buddha or any compassionate leader say about describing  the uneducated, the sick and poor and suffering  as a bunch of lazy bums who want to mooch off the government?

Bush hijacked the US with lies about 9/11 and crashed it into Iraq, killing over 500,000 human beings. So far, he's avoided arrest and prosecution.
