    That's like the third paragraph of your linked article. Maybe you should have read all the way through before panicking.

        If there is no compromise nothing will get done. He said if it takes off shore drilling to get a comprehensive energy plan which includes 80 percent of the cars to be run on something else besides gas in the next 20 years then he will take it. In the next 20 years how much drilling will be needed if most of the cars will run on something else? Not many. He doesn't need an excuse to support drilling off shore.
