  •  You kind of torn me with the Keith thing. (9+ / 0-)

Today Rachel's show was excellent.  I found her a bit awkward on KO.  Not because she was doing anything wrong, it was just that she was doing Keith's shtick and well, its Keith, and it isn't anyone else's, therefore it was unfair to her.

Today, the questions she asked were marvelous, she seemed more natural in that chair than Keith's.  I hope this was MSNBC's way of testing her out for her show.  If it is, she nailed it.  She will have her own show very soon.

especially after her two-week Countdown stint (given that normally they rotate guest hosts).

The only question at this point is whether she gets a show before or after the election.

      •  Probably a lot of shuffling going on (3+ / 0-)

But also the regulars probably need to take a decent amount of vacation time now because in another couple of weeks it will be convention time. Then I'm guessing they will be working long hours through election day in November. So I think that might just as likely be the reason for Rachel Madow doing so much subbing these days.

Things are looking a lot better at MSNBC than they were a year ago -- Joe Scarborough moved to the morning slot, so most of us can avoid seeing him. And even better is sending Tucker Carlson off to early retirement. I think they still need to figure out what to do with Dan Abrams. He always seems like a square peg to me. If there are no missing people stories or other vaguely legal-related matters for him to grind his teeth on, they give him political stories to cover, which he just doesn't do well.

        •  Yeah, the Race appearance doesn't mean much, (2+ / 0-)

but getting two solid weeks on a big prime-time show (and keeping the July ratings up in the 18-34 demo) sure does.

(Is it just me, or does Race For the White House have guest hosts on more often?)

... that as a hard-core reporter he's been itching to get out on the campaign trail for the last couple of months, and "suggesting" to MSNBC brass that Rachel take over RFTWH for the rest of its run.

        Well, a guy can hope.
