    One of the purposes of advertising is mostly to make people notice that the product exists. If you watch a TV show that makes you notice Vomitous Pizza, and that evening you're wondering "hmm, what to do for dinner?"... Vomitous suddenly becomes one of the options in your head. The chance that you'll buy a pizza tonight has suddenly jumped from one in a hundred, to maybe one in eight. Multiply that by a few million people and that's a lot of pizza.
