    •  Seriously I think I am either (4+ / 0-)

going to buy a $500 to 600 laptop, or rent a Macbook over there, load it with Final Draft and the other Production software I need, and email all the files back home before crossing the border.

If at first you don't succeed, your name is not Chuck Todd.

folks who keep their stuff completely in cyberspace while traveling so that nothing is ever saved by the computer itself.
I fear visiting Thailand (SE Asia) - as a single, older male, they'd be all over me like white-on-rice looking for kiddieporn I suspect!

      •  I don't watch a lot of regular news (0+ / 0-)

I have a friend who is a staunch Dem but no thrilled with Obama.  I was trying to explain the irony in the U.S. govt. warning citizens about internet use in China when we have the same problem here.  She hadn't even heard of the laptop/border thing.  Is it that unreported in the TM?

I think the email thing is a good idea.  While they do monitor traffic, it would make them work a lot harder to get any info on you than just taking your machine for weeks, months, forever.
