    and I don't have an immediate link for this, but I believe that encryption on a "travel laptop" for your work may be counterproductive -- I have read that they seize and hold computers, in part, so they can take time to decrypt the contents. If it's undecryptable, you could get either pressured to help them out, or you might not see your laptop for a long time. I think that transparency might be a more effective way of avoiding problems with getting your work data past the Gestapo checkpoint.

    Meanwhile, I hope this is temporary.

    I'm sure that many business people are concerned, as I am, about having DHS functionaries and/or contractors -- corruptible human beings, like everyone else -- scrutinize business records that may contain trade secrets, financial information, and private personal data.
