  •  Frankly, I think studies like this are silly. (0+ / 0-)

I have, however, had "unscientific" girl talk with my friends about why we feel that STDs are so rampant:  The pill.

It seems that people are much less concerned with pregnancy because of the pill, and so the use of condoms is not that important to a lot of people.  Therefore, there is continued transmission of diseases.

I do see a little common sense in that people are much less discriminatory about who they have sex with if they aren't concerned if they'll be "stuck" with the guy for the rest of their lives if a pregnancy should occur.

    Just my opinion.

that the guys figure that if the girl is "safe" in terms of pregnancy protection, they don't have to take the due diligence in using a condom -- more education is needed to stress condoms as an STD prevention tool, not just a contraceptive device.

      •  I'm quite disappointed that there is so little (0+ / 0-)

focus on condoms in the media anymore.  Except when puritans are fuming over what they consider to be "condoms handed out like candy" at schools.
