Russia has major internal problems with corruption and a delicate economy.  Much of their apparent strength is pretty shallow.  Putin's a very savvy guy, though.  Evil, but sly.

    •  but in the Georgia issue, How the US stop them? (5+ / 0-)

the US don't, that's it regardless of any neocon huff and puff there is nothing in the pantry to do it.

      •  Georgia is the one on the OFFENSIVE (5+ / 0-)

Maybe that part of the article escaped all the neo-cons attention, but I am getting that radar feeling of being HIGHLY manipulated again by BushCo., first Georgia payrolls McCain's main foreign affairs man, gets a wink from Cheney et al., uses the Olypics as cover to invade a contentious area, Ruskies blow them into oblivion, now the neo-CONS, led by mcCAIN!!!!! and his latcheys are going over there to "fix" it, oh and we "are all Georgians now" -- I guess so, we did invade another country also--b.s. --it is just one of those situations where I KNOW there is an entire backstory, that probably leads to Cheney/McCain Election offices, and I am never going to know the truth.  Again.   I am so sick of this.

    •  Delicate economy? (8+ / 0-)

      Surely, you can't be serious!

They are flush with cash, unencumbered by bottomless debt and endless war, and massive oil supplies.

Russia can do whatever the hell they want now.  Cheney's incompetence has been laid out for all to see, and this has served to demonstrate that the U.S. just isn't that powerful anymore.

Iran, Russia, Saudia Arabia, and Norway will no longer be oil exporters by 2030. Link

rather than just fighting over who gets to screw the capitalist investors. Then we would be in deep trouble economically.

transporting oil and natural gas to Europe. Russia can't really be boycotted, but they can start a boycott against other countries.

And if you ask, say, the Germans if they want to support Georgia, or if they want to have heating this winter, what do you think they are going to say?

Vote for McCain to continue the fight against al-Qaeda, vote for Obama to finish it. </war&gt
