They do it in China too, which is where I learned of it...

Don't own a cell phone.  That's another long story, though. :-)

No one is!  Cell phones make people rude and seem to distract them from the task at hand.  We all want to multi-task, but maybe we need to think in terms of vacuuming the floor while the dishwasher runs or consulting with colleagues while waiting for a report to print.  Human beings are not meant to concentrate on too many things at once.  We just end up screwing up two things instead of doing on well.

I had thought of ADD as the human brain perhaps attempting to evolve towards being able to process many things at once.

The volume of information and sensory inputs we handle now at any given moment are far beyond what our genetic inheritance would have had to deal with.

Where I live a cellphone not about being important, it's just normal life. In China not all homes have land lines -- in some areas, it's impossible to pull them -- but mobile phones have terrific coverage and are cheap.

it's a weird case where a monopoly actually provides better service and options than competing companies. it's such a complete racket in the US.

the idea of ADD as evolution is genius!  i teach piano to children, and they are quite mentally advanced, although it makes it difficult to maintain focus.

instead of numbing their ADD, we should learn to adapt the world accordingly.  enter the iPhone
