    give up power.  Col. (mumble) Bacevich was on Bill Moyers Journal last night.  It is not only the rethugs that grasp for an imperial presidency, the dems do it, too.

      dynamic at play here.

      Clinton certainly did it and even opened the door for Bush in a lot of areas.  Democrats excused him because he was working against a hostile Congress who we all remember were so hostile that at one point they shut down the government.  

      But the reality is that unless and until our system of governance changes, these powers get transferred to the next elected "Excutive" and we've all see what can happen when an Excutive is a liar, cheat and theif and has too much power.  

      Even if we really think someone is a "good guy", we can't excuse the expansion of power because the "good guy" won't be there to mitigate it on a permanent basis.
