it's sad to say, that the nut-jobs over at were actually the first to spot the similarities between McCain and Solzhenitsyn.

This is a quite positive point to make, as this is not the 'liberal nut jobs' at Daily Kos, but something that (evidently) first emerged in discussions by the "Right" wing of the Republican Party.  That should make it easier to digest by the nation's political columnists in the traditional media.

They weren't credible back then, and they still aren't credible today.  The answer to the significance of this story is staring everyone in the face yet nobody gets it.

This story has no legs except to accentuate what McCain went through when he was a POW.

this is something that has been discussed and I think worthwhile to remember.

Why worry about whether he exaggerates details / items from when he was a POW or about adopting children.  Both, without embellishment, are things for which most (99+%?) give him credit. By fighting over details, we bring attention to these items and enable them to be discussed.

On the other hand, his lying about his support for renewable energy and his missing votes re renewable energy? That discussion brings focus to his serial absenteeism and his questionable veracity on items of substance.
