2004 was a sickening , absurd mess. Glad to see the DNC has learned so much. When the entire Senate is comprised of millionaires , and almost the entire House , not too likely that any of We The People under the top 2% in income are going to have elected representation . Every empire learns during its process of building and inevitable collapse how essential military might is . Yeh , too bad the retired general isn't needed . Maybe some glimmer of historical light has reached past the blindfolds.

Was my first feeling of uh-oh about him.

but from reading your comments for a long time I know you are a much more charitable person and open to others than I am. That was the point at which I said "We're Fucked!! " and left the room to find a book.My uh-oh happened during Iowa and the news coverage about Iowa for trhe next three months.

I'm not nearly as open as I should be however :) I study Buddhism, and feel guilty every time I knock the Obamaisdoomeders/where are the surrogates/etc
types here. I don't get whining by blog. I should be more open. Ommmmm. But thank you.

I wasn't following that primary season - too much personal stuff going on during that period. So my awareness of John Kerry the Candidate wasn't much formed before the convention. And then I learned that our candidate bored me. NOT a good feeling.

like McGovern. And at risk of receiving snarling replies , Obama . An amazing propensity to pick , it seems , the lowest quality candidates the DNC can find to run againnst very , very vulnerable opponents. I am absolutely convinced I will never get a chance to vote for a candidate for  President toward whom I feel a sense of real trust and respect . Jimmy Carter was once , and I don't think it will ever occur again. Carter got us asfely through a time when the world stod on end; the Iranian revolution , the entire oil mess from Hades , and we didn't have soldiers anywhere murdering anyone to steal anything for giant american corporations. That was , I think , the four years during which my country's behavior reached it's highest point of honor and decency.
Honor and decency. Those things are ultimate to me , though I realize honor has some very perverted definitions to some. All other things become settled as honor and decency prevail.

our strength is our legitimacy achieved through living up to our democratic principles, not military force and that force should be used only as a last, last, last resource.
Clark, as you may know, has been a source for Noam Chomsky who has quoted Clark as a military authority in several of his books.
