...to go all in and outlaw abortion. They know better.

Abortion is a tool in the toolbox to them. Nothing wags the dog harder, or raises more money for them, or motivates their base of voters. Nothing.

And, like everything else they profess to believe in, it's all a scam. A lie. Bullshit. And incredibly unpopular, to boot. Why do we even have to have this discussion? Because George W. Bush is ALSO a doofus zealot on this issue, and thanks to the stolen election of 2000, we now have two more Roe overturners on the Court.

    Oi.

even if they could. To outlaw abortion would be to provoke a SCOTUS ruling, which almost certainly would overturn it. The goal is to turn the whole issue over to the states, on the theory that their strength of local organization will overcome their lack of numbers, state by state. The key is to get Roe overturned.

but the moral argument they make is it is tantamount to a holocaust type event, and if that is in fact correct, if they are sincere, then the worry about a possible adverse court ruling doesn't fly imo. For example, if a senior high ranking Nazi had stood up in Nuremberg and said something to the effect of "My moral compass and personal convictions informed me beyond any doubt that slaughtering millions of innocent people in the death camps was mass murder, but I held off trying to stop it even tough I could have issued a decree or passed a law anytime I wanted to because I was worried the court might over turn it," I think most of us would have little sympathy for that argument.
