but replacing these, no.. I love trying to convert them and running rings around their "logic".  Truth is, all of my friends have much different circumstances than I do in regards to family/career responsibilities.  They do what they think serves their immediate interests (wallet) the best.  I have the luxury/curse of being an idealist who doesn't have the family/career concerns they do.  It actually is fun, especially when I get to engage/educate  their kids on politics.

our country wasn't being run into the ground, then maybe it might be fun to argue with Bush supporters...

There is way too much at stake to humor these people.

but we should still try to make it fun.  Getting too serious polarizes rather than persuades.

Or maybe not.  I am not an expert on persuading people.

and trust me, the more I bring that fact up to my less than liberal friends, the more they open their ears and eyes to what is happening and what this election means both to them and the country.  I could spend all my time with people who think exactly like me, but what is that going to change? I will admit, my phrasing using the word "fun" was less than well thought out.  My point is, every conversation I have with my friends and their kids about this election brings them that much closer to the belief that McCain/Bush and the Neo-con ideology is what has pushed this country into an incredibly small corner, and that it will take some real drastic measures to change that.  A majority of these friends truly believe that last eight years have made it nearly impossible for them to adequately address their personal needs and plan for their future.  I am doing my best to push them towards a different path.

perps who voted for Bush twice. I can't fathom actually liking one. I don't hang out with liberals to be in an echo chamber, I just prefer to be with nice people who are smart, and who care about the things I care about.

I salute you for anyone you bring around but I couldn't do it.
