The writer had a copy of the speech before it started, and AP writers are the fastest in the biz. He probably made sure that Obama didn't ad-lib any, and then filed when the speech ended. This story was an analysis of whether Obama did what even his campaign said he wanted to do - get more specific.

I agree with the story. He mentioned specific things he wanted to do, but not the specifics of how they would be accomplished. And like the NM gov. said, this shouldn't have been this kind of speech.

If you agree that it wasn't supposed to be "that kind of speech" than it doesn't warrant the criticism.

It didn't live up to the standards I've developed for love poetry either, but if we can all agree that it wasn't supposed to be love poetry, why the fuck would you "agree" with criticism based on an absurd standard?

The NM gov was quoted in the story saying "It shouldn't have been that kind of speech [meaning filled with policy specifics]."

The Obama campaign said he would get specific in the speech and the reporter analyzed how specific he got.

Look, there are plenty of parts of the media to criticize, but this isn't it. And it really only reinforces stereotypes of bloggers being loony and the media sucking.

        •  That's not a stereotype (0+ / 0-)

          the media sucking.

          It's a truth.

well i have since the elections started since I have yahoo.  all the obama articles are very negative or they insert words here and there with doubt. the mccain articles are very positive without the balanced critcism of the obama articles.

now I have removed the yahoo main page in protest but you cant just see this article on its own, you ahve to see the context

    •  And still got the speech timing wrong? (0+ / 0-)

      Try again.

As for specifics, Obama had them, you, along with the hack you're defending apparently didn't bother to see them for what they were.

I know because he'd bring up a point and I'd say "And how is he going to do that?" to my spouse and Obama answered my question in the next line.

The only thing he didn't flat out say he was that he was going to raise taxes only on the very rich. That doesn't mean it wasn't plainly obvious to anyone with half a brain.
