Thank you for the reply. I just got up, and literally, as I read your message, the sun popped out after the nasty and sometimes torrential rains we had here during the night. There's gotta be significance to that!

My mother's feeling about this is that McCain's been through too much, his body broken, his mind deteriorating, and plus he's a cancer victim. She's had a small touch of melanoma and she has read extensively on it, feels he could succumb to it easily at this stage. And while she doesn't like Obama (though she couldn't really say why -- I hear that a lot from his detractors) she thinks, "My God! What's the alternative?"

Plus, she lives in New Jersey, a state in which Republicans are very active, and in an area on the Jersey Shore where Republicans and Masons pretty much dictate everything. She hates them, even though she votes for them if she thinks they're good. McCain, she thinks, is totally out of it. And last night, I was hearing very similar things on the radio. It was fascinating.

Well, hang in there. And again, thanks so much. I've canvassed for Obama and I know it's not always the easiest thing -- you had intense heat. I'm 57 and had intense hills to walk. But it felt good, and your work is appreciated.

Will the last one out of democracy please turn out the lights?
