      but imho, there's more to it than that. If you or I did this, we'd be in jail. Period. There's the recently revealed contention she gave drugs to her children, that she in fact never went to rehab and may still be using.

      And I do think it reflects on McCain's judgement as to how he handled the entire thing.

      Of course most just shrug and don't care but a double standard like this just tends to frost me really bad.

        Drug-law reform is one of my biggest issues, and catching high-profile conservatives red-handed in hypocrisy can be a powerful rhetorical device for our side.

        But we're trying to win an election here.  And as many other commenters have said, this is extremely dangerous ground to tread at this point in the cycle.  Even if it's not a Rovian plant (and I don't think it is), it is still fraught with traps and potential backlashes.  And it just seems beneath us, when there are so many crucial political issues on which to nail McCain (John, that is).

        Nobody said it would be easy.
