Brady seems like a nice enough guy.

I simply want him to lose every Sunday.

You seem to be taking playful disparaging very seriously.

    •  How many Super Bowls have the Jets won? (0+ / 0-)
      •  Ooooh. There's that New England attitude. (0+ / 0-)

The Jets have won 1 Superbowl.

How many games did the Patriots lose last season? Did they lose any important games? Were they favored at the time?

Tell me, if you know, if you are favored by double-digits in an athletic contest, and the other team hands you your hat, is that the sporting definition of the word "choke"?

        •  As a NY'er, you'd know. (0+ / 0-)

          ALCS much?

          •  :-) Lived in Boston 5 years.... (0+ / 0-)

...as a transplanted NY'er. Had to leave. Couldn't take the incessant stench from the Celtics of the 1990's.

As ALCS goes, I'm a Nats fan. So, I get to root for the #1 draft pick....only to watch my GM be the only guy in baseball not to come to terms with his #1 draft pick (after we let Soriano go for nothing so we could get more draft picks).

I can't win at baseball so I'm going to take my ball and go home! ;-)

    •  Problem is that there are many fans of other (0+ / 0-)

teams on various NFL message boards who are genuinely gleeful when players from other teams get seriously injured and express especially vile and crazy hate for the Patriots.  I presume these are all Republicans since they often express similar sentiments about Obama, Olbermann, gays, etc.

They often claim that no other successful NFL team has every been caught cheating (patently untrue).  They claim that Brady's injury is "Karma" and, when asked if Tiger Wood's similar injury is also "Karma" the response is often "Yes" - as if athletes can be "too" successful and therefore are either necessarily cheating or must be slapped down by Fate to put them in their place.

Whatever - for those of us who enjoy the game no matter who's playing and who appreciate the struggles and compliment the successes of teams other than the one we ordinarily root for, this kind of juvenile shit gets old real fucking fast.

Furthermore, this seemingly acceptable anti-sportsmanship - this need to "slaughter" one's opponent by any means instead of merely win an honorably-contested game - while nothing new, is a core component of the spiritual disease that afflicts this country.  It's like the folks who think it's a fine thing to shoot wolves from planes.

Some folks prefer a map and finding their own route. Others need someone to tell them where to go.
