my understanding is that they're telling canvassers to offer a stamp, or offer to drive people to a drop box, but avoid handling other people's ballots. That if you have to take someone's ballot because it won't get in on time any other way, for god's sake don't keep it overnight!

I really think that involving 3rd parties in the vote process beyond the mailman or an election worker is a Bad Idea (tm).

My understanding of this comes from my mother, who is working 4 days a week at the local dem headquarters as a volunteer.

Specifically, the fact that the repubs are using the "dems do it too!" defense (which I find personally offensive and outrageous) is all the more reason to keep our noses squeaky clean and avoid even the appearance of an opportunity for vote fraud.

    •  Offering a stamp is illegal (none)
If they are doing that they need to stop telling them that BIG TIME.

The process we have here in Portland (Multnomah county specifically) is more secure than dropping it in your own mailbox. There is in fact a paper trail and tracking daily about what voters are tallied as having voted being distributed by CD form the county elections office to the Dem County office every day. This is how we are targeting voter ID'ed GOTV.

There is nothing wrong with it, nothgin "opbjectionable" or illegal though GOP will bloviate all the same over it regardless.

      cheers,

      Mitch Gore

No one will change America for you. You must work to make it happen.
