  •  I'm glad you shared.. (0+ / 0-)

And again, comparing Kerry, who may actually shit bark, to Obama, is ridiculous.
And the point of the diary , intimated in it's title, is that the very same voter dynamics that have generated the McPalin bounce will shift the focus and momentum heavily in Obama's favor.

So by all means, stop your phone banking, knocking, and registering. No need for any more donations, as well.
That's obviously what I'm advocating here.

    •  And that's obviously what I'm saying (0+ / 0-)

too.  My point only is that assurances that the debates or a "tidal wave" of unexpected voters will make it all good are counter productive to those of us who are older than 22 or so.  Also I'm in no way comparing Kerry to Obama.  I'm comparing the rhetoric of some supporters then and now instead. Yeah obviously the fact I'm starting to feel nervous means I advocate us all pissing our pants and rolling over.  I think in the end you will be proven right, but honestly I would have expected McCain's "bounce" in state polling to have plateaued or even begun fading by now, but so far it hasn't.  As I said I won't really be panicking unless the situation is the same in a week or two, and even then I think we have a strong chance of winning.

      •  I'm 40.. (0+ / 0-)

but I'm sorry that my observation is counterproductive. I shall now flog myself in rhythm to the wringing of your hands and gnashing of your teeth.

I'm expressing real anxiety while also saying that you are basically right, and you are such a cheerleader you see that as concern-trolling.  I only suggest "wait for the debates" is not by itself that strong of an comfort to all but the most partisan cheerleaders (which we definitely need, but are not the whole of the story).  If you can't handle the honest opinion of someone who shares your goals and views without being snide, it is most "counter-productive" of me to even talk to you.  Keep up the good work IRL, and let's do what we can to win this fall.

          •  Holy Poopypants... (0+ / 0-)

            Will you lighten up, Chuckles?
You warrant a little busting on for the age assumption and ensuing condescension.
Steady now. Don't break shieldlock when you hear the barbarians howling.

            •  I didn't assume your age at all (0+ / 0-)

but I can see how you would think so from the way I put it (actually I assumed you were probably older, but that many newer voters would like this line of argument).  What I meant is that for many of us who were politically active at least for the last couple of elections, these arguments ring hollow, even if they may be true this time.  In any case I'm tired, and thought I was raising a couple of legit worries, but obviously am just distracting from the point of your diary.  That's why I'm dropping it, have a good night.
