    people of modest means buy tanning beds, if they have enough space for them.  I'm originally from MS and it's not that uncommon there... nowadays, tanning beds (in a store or home) are for the plebs, while wealthier types go in to a salon every week to be airbrushed instead.  I've always thought buying a tanning bed was a bit tacky/silly, but hell, I'm a lousy ol' elitist.  And pale, these days.

    IOW, it wouldn't hurt her with the heartlanders, because having a tanning bed at home is pretty much along the same lines as installing an above-ground pool is to many.
