    I totally agree that plausibility is key.

    They likely haven't had much "first-hand" exposure to Obama, and have probably simply heard about his supposed youth, inexperience and, more subtly, "unworthiness". Those not already completely poisoned by the unrelenting right-wing spin and/or a deep seated racial bias will likely be impressed by Obama's poise and gravitas.

    Another important point is the no-teleprompter factor. A lot of people have bought into the notion that Obama is truly an empty suit whose true nature hasn't been exposed because he has been hiding behind scripted interviews and teleprompted speeches. I think the sight of Obama presenting impromptu thoughtful and sensible answers to tough questions will challenge that notion, and possibly provide enough of a breakthrough that people may be inclined to reassess their initial skepticism of/resistance to Obama's overall message.
