  •  John Edwards Was Never All That Popular Here (7+ / 0-)

    It is a major misconception that NC was generally ga-ga over John Edwards, ever.

    Yes, we voted him into the Senate, but the real difference was Lauch Faircloth fatigue, not swooning John Edwards love.  And quite frankly, Edwards was a disappointing Senator for this state.

    I will repeat what one of his Raleigh trial attorney associates (who knew Edwards VERY well) said: "John got to the Senate and realized he was only one of one hundred and not the center of attention.  He almost immediately began planning his presidential run."

    N. Carolinans knew that and I deeply suspect Edwards would not have been re-elected here.

      Of course he didn't ever really do anything of note here.

      I think he was just too ambitious, trying to rise too quickly (well, there are possibly other issues).
