    Yeah, the Federalist Papers can seem dense, but the Declaration of Independence is pretty good reading.

    And the key concept underlying the American ideal are all there:

    Unalienable Rights

    And the right of the people to abolish any government that violates their liberty.


    You are surely right. The teaching of this stuff, when it is done, is probably very, very dull.

    Also, we've seen a TV biography about John Adams that millions of viewers absolutely loved. I think it's all about HOW you tell the story. It can be done.

    When a government violates the unalienable rights of the people, it loses its legitimacy.
