    Here's another one: Yick Wo v. Hopkins (1886) holding that racially discriminatory enforcement of a facially neutral law violated the Equal Protection clause. San Francisco had a fire-safety law requiring that laundries in wooden buildings have a permit issued after a safety inspection. The court found that perfectly reasonable, but it did not find it reasonable that the "San Francisco values" of the time dictated that the permit be denied if the owner was Chinese and granted otherwise, regardless of the results of the inspection.
