      Palin didn't want to have that baby. She knew it was Down's Syndrome. But her religion and her politics won't allow her to have an abortion.

      However.... a miscarriage or stillbirth is legal, isn't it?

      If you think I'm exaggerating or making an outrageous accusation, consider that I was raised Catholic, and this kind of shit VERY MUCH DID HAPPEN and probably still does in Catholic and in fundamentalist circles too. Teenagers who weren't allowed by their religion or parents to have abortions, came up with all kinds of creative ways to try to make one happen "organically" (most of them didn't work, by the way). Palin almost certainly knew that what she was doing was risky... and if she'd lost the baby then she'd have been off the hook.
