...when 'they' voted to support this type of surveillance?

Bush asked for support for this surveillance...and he got it.  We must (and some of us tried at the time) hold all officials who supported the circumvention of FISA accountable.

      •  Why what? Give em paid hookers? (0+ / 0-)

The point I was trying to get at was that we waste so much time and money dealing with the Republicans' perverse obsession with sex--which can probably be attributed to the fact that it's getting increasingly difficult for any of them to get laid!--so why not just give them hookers and be done with it? (snark alert? maybe, but not exclusively)

        •  I couldn't care less about their... (0+ / 0-)

...sexual proclivities (and am only barely interested even when exposing their hypocrisy).  We should have seen this coming...and some of us did.

The salacious aspect of the story is incidental to the real threat to our civil liberties...if they're listening in on (and RECORDING) pillow talk between the troops and their spouses, what other conversations are they recording?  This is beyond fetish -- this is dangerous, and could have been avoided.

          •  I agree. I'm just tired of having (0+ / 0-)

their sex proclivities on national display.

Of course it's dangerous. Of course it could have been avoided. And yes, the salacious part is incidental to the real threat to our civil liberties, but not entirely so: it's part of the fascist pathology. Ever read Klaus Theweleit's "Male Fantasies"?
