  •  Is she from outside the district? (0+ / 0-)

I guess she must be -- right? -- because otherwise your typical comment makes no sense.

    That can't help either.

    •  She moved here to work for Microsoft (1+ / 0-)

Most of the people I spoke with are from the south part of the district, which is where she lost two years ago, and consider people who moved here for Microsoft to be outsiders.

She's been downplaying the Microsoft connection this year, which I think is a good idea.

      •  So true. (0+ / 0-)

When I was a kid in the 80s, people talked about people who had moved to Seattle in the 70s from California as outsiders.

        •  They still do <eom> (1+ / 0-)

        •  God, it's the same here in Colorado. (2+ / 0-)

I've lived here for 16 years and am just now considered "acceptable." Just this year people have finally stopped asking me if I intend to live her. I mean, WTF? How long do I have to live here before I'm considered a Coloradoan.

I worked on a congressional campaign two years ago. Our candidate had lived here for 25 years. Marilyn Musgrave continuously painted her as an East Coast liberal, because she had moved here from New York, twenty five fucking years ago. Some states really do not accept you unless you were born and raised in the state. Utterly stupid but true.

What's a good atheist substitute for "God bless America and Godspeed to you all"? Have a nice day and drive fast?
