  •  My wife just sent the Trib endorsement (7+ / 0-)

to her mother.  Her mother throws around words like 'socialism' and 'inexperience' when talking about Obama.  She sends every pathetic email chain regarding the Ayers nonconnection and the ACORN "scandal".  My wife has been so frustrated.  But now, this might speak louder than any other email response.

Hi Mom.  First time the Trib has endorsed a Dem for pres.  I guess it's a socialist rag.

I didn't realize this was huge, but my wife, a Chicago native, is over the moon.

The Tribune has been around since before the Civil War and has never before endorsed a Democrat.  It's sort of like the Cubs winning the World Series.  Actually that has happened more often than the Trib endorsing a Dem.

    •  I don't think people get how big a deal this is.. (4+ / 0-)

to native Chicagoans. This is HUGE. Now, it might not make much of a splash in the rest of the country, but its a historical first and a symbol of how compelling Obama is.

The best thing about the article is that it tries to take the wind out of the Ayers sail by saying that they've seen Obama come up and they trust him.  The paper that hasn't ever endorsed a Dem in 161 years (not counting Indie's, progressives, etc.) trusts him.  That says everything. So pass this to all your hate spewing relatives and friends.
