    Gasoline should be handled like the toxic crap it is. By professionals with proper equipment and protection.

      I used to work at a gas station in Cali, and it was flipping unbelievable how many times  a DAY people would spill gas on the islands, but never tell anyone.  Then somebody else would slip in it and holler until we went out with suckitup pads and the hazmat kit to clean it up.  Considering how many unprotected storm drains run directly to streams in this town, I shudder to think what it would be like if the average doofus was pumping his own gas around here.  Don't EVEN get me started on the dingbats who drove off with the nozzle still in their car--at least once a month, minimum.

      but we do leave it to minimum wage employees having to breathe in that stuff for 8-hours-a-day with no special tools rather than each person doing it maybe once a week.

      I'll never vote to change it, but it must really be a more dangerous job than one might think.
