    •  there's a flash blocker add on that fixes that (4+ / 0-)

      It stops flash videos etc from automatically starting, so you'd have to click once to let flash do its thing within firefox, and then click again to start the video, but I haven't had any issues with the freeze that you describe since I installed it.

      Available from here. As always, read up on it, and check it out before you add it to firefox, I'm just letting you know as a psa....

        Weird. I use flashblocker on my laptop though and that works great.

        There's something attractive about invincible ignorance... for the first 5 seconds.

        I think the problems you are having with youtube videos is that there are too many flash applets opening at once on a page. Adobe's flash player is infamously buggy and prone to crapping out, so limiting the number of applets that load at once is your best bet.

        That goes triple if you're running a Linux system, Adobe's Linux build is even buggier. I don't know about Macs, but it certainly can't hurt.
