The polling averages have had Obama ahead in Ohio since late September, and the gap has been widening all the time. This result is a little late to the game.

As you note, the Ohio Newspaper Poll tends to be conservative -- after all, the three largest papers in Ohio (the Dispatch, the Enquirer and the Plain Dealer) are all pretty Republican to varying degrees. To be sure, it's nice to see a poll with such a bias showing Obama in the lead. But while we're at it, we could also point to other recent polls with a conservative bent (Zogby and Stategic Vision) that still put McCain ahead in Ohio.

For even better jollies, we can look at two recent polls (Politico and Big Ten) that have Obama ahead in Ohio by ten and twelve points, respectively!

So I dunno, this news is pleasant, but it strikes me as rather underwhelming.

    Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
