  •  Do you think our campaign has any paid canvassers (2+ / 0-)

    ?

I'm honestly not sure.  Hiring people to do the last minute work in areas where there are no ready volunteers only makes sense, and the guy she interviewed admitted to having canvassers that are being paid.  It seemed like the jobs they admitted to doing match what Louis told her they were paying people to do.

I'm in Detroit and stopped by one of the campaign offices the other day where hey were training people who were going to be paid. This was in downtown Detroit where it may be difficult to get volunteers--economic conditions mean many folks need the many pretty badly, plus I think the organizing is more difficult in certain areas b/c a lot don't have cars or just aren't politically aware.

But that's just one area of a blue state. I don't think it indicates a generalized problem.
That said, while I appreciate this video, and that guy is a total thug asshole, it's a bit difficult to judge the message about "paid" volunteers--you could find areas where Obama people are being paid and slant it to make it look bad.

I worked with some last weekend.

They are not being held out as "volunteers" though.

I read on another diary a quote that says our paid staff in Florida is in the thousands.
