    i'm not sure that telling an employee that their performance is sub-par can be equated w/terrorizing.

    i've rubbed elbows w/some ACORN folks.
    and just so you know, while there are some "unfortunate folks" who are so "desparate" that they'll work this "horrible job" in the first place, there are a whole bunch of us who have done it for nothing.  and quite successfully, i might add.  better ways to approach non-registered voters than standing in one place on a sidewalk all day.

    i stand by what i said originally.  these people were not victims.  they took a job, i don't care if they're recovering addicts or parolees.  the terms of employment are that you register voters.  if you're not registering voters, or you're turning in fake registrations, you no longer have a job.  
    these people were a very small percentage of ACORN's total employee pool.
    they're not contributing to inflated registration numbers.  every single suspect application has been flagged.
    the only recourse ACORN has is to fire an employee who they know or suspect is faking applications.
    sounds reasonable to me.
    you may now continue with your "clean up ACORN" crusade...

      is tell the truth about the quotas. Or even reply to my email with any reasonable defense of their claim of "no hard quotas."

      Why is it that they must lie about what seems a very minor matter? A reasonable quota is easily defensible, but they denied having any quotas several times before their recent press conference, where they amended the lie to "no hard quotas."

      If they were truthful, I could forget about the people with lousy jobs; lots of people have lousy jobs.

      I just do not appreciate employers who lie about what they require of their employees. I have zero tolerance for keeping such things secret in this culture where abuse of low-wage employees by employers is so widely accepted as normal. I find it especially unpleasant in an organization with a progressive "mission statement." And I find it suspect when it occurs in an organization with a record of corruption and concealment at the very top.

        they have a certain minimum performance standard. If you can't or won't meet the standard, you won't keep your job. Call it whatever you want.

        And this whole thing about ACORN turning in fraudulent voter registrations, they are required by law to turn in every registration they receive, valid or otherwise. ACORN followed the law and flagged registrations they believed to be invalid. It was yet another GOP manufactured outrage.
