  •  Elitists like kos don't understand... (24+ / 0-)

...that democracy is all about being able to purchase your way to special access to those in power!

    •  "Which is the party of elitists again?" (0+ / 0-)

Well "elite" comes in all kinds of packaging.  The Monied Elite...like Eagles, lobbiests, and "elected Republicans." The Intellectual Elite like Obama and progressive Democrats. And the McCain/Palin Elite like Joe the Plumber and a score of racists, bigots and "low information voters."  Everyone gets to be a part of an elite group as long as you can meet it's "high" standards and hate the other elite groups. It's our basic right....freedom of choice.  It's the American Way.

      •  Joe the Plumber Isn't A Low Information Voter (0+ / 0-)

He's a high-information ideologue. He admits that he'd pay lower taxes under Obama, but feels that the middle class should pay higher taxes to subsidize their more successful betters.

But he does fall into the same McCain/Palin Elite as the "blame the other guy" and project your own inadequacies onto others elite category.

They worship the wealthy and hate the poor.

The Republican Party is built on a certain set of values. It is political Calvinism. Those who do well are saved, those who are not doing well are damned, so who cares about them. In fact, it would be sinful to transfer wealth from the rich to the poor because you are, in effect, transfering wealth from the saved to the damned.

This also explains why an upper middle class law professor, like Barack Obama or Joe Biden, is elite, while millionaire businessowners, like the Palin's, are not. The millionare business owner is successful because god blesses their hard work. The law professor is not as successful, therefore, is not as close to god. Furthermore, how dare the law professor lecture the businessman on his role in society! This is why these people have such contempt for "book learning." Book learning that does not lead to more money is a waste of time to them.

You know that God loves you if you make a shitload of money and rule the world (Dominionism)...or if you can't, then carry a big gun, thump your bible, kill a few moose...believe you too will someday be rich enough to push others around and get them to pay higher taxes to support your inflated lifestyle and pave your way to Heaven with their bodies. God=Money!
