Sadly, I admit I worked for the RNC one summer in college when I was dirt poor before being fired for not really raising much money (this was before automated dialing so I would just call my own phone over and over and get the voice mail and say the person I was calling wasn't home or I would not press the person after they refused the initial request for 3 times their previous donation).

Anyway, they had a scam going on a "lifetime membership".  They took the highest amount you'd ever given before and deducted that from $1000 and asked for the difference.  So, if you were well off and had donated $500 in the past, we only asked for $500.  If you were poor and could only afford to give $25 in the past, we'd ask for $975.  How ass backward is that?  Told me all I needed to know about the repugs.  Oh and did I mention that a lifetime membership did not mean you wouldn't still be routinely asked for money?

Oh and when they gave us "republican bucks" for doing well so we could buy RNC merchandise (I think I got only 1 of those because someone actually fell for the $975 scam), the picture on the monopoly money was of a guy wearing a barrel with suspenders.  Pretty much how they think most people should live I assume.
