  •  Line up back up help NOW (4+ / 0-)

Find out about help with utilities, food stamps, food banks, CHiP (children's health insurance) programs in your state, anything that might help stretch things if the worst comes to pass.  The more prepared you are to swing in to action, the better you'll feel.  Renegotiate interest rates, look at programs offered by local churches and community groups.

UPS and USPS hire temporary, full time help over the holidays.  It might be worth looking into as a temporary option if your husband needs quick work.

Good luck to you.  And remember, talk to friends and family, people at your church/in your community.  You are NOT alone and getting laid off is not something to be ashamed about.  Get the word out that your husband might be looking for a new position if his company cuts back.  Every little bit of support helps when you are facing something like this.
