  •  Fukuyama not a typical conservative (4+ / 0-)

I read "Our Post human Future: Consequences of the Biotechnology Revolution" (2002)and although I don't agree with many of his conclusions, he is one smart man.  He is not your typical conservative and even back in 2002, he did not fit your "typical" conservative stereotype.  He is an intellectual.  He thinks.  He also belongs to a cultural group that was severely oppressed during WW11.

I am not surprised at his decision to support Obama over McCain.  That he would support the thinking person, the steady hand, and the cool headed thinker shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

However, he is not "Joe the Plumber" and his endorsement will mean nothing to the uneducated cohorts that live in middle America.  But for someone like me, it means a lot though.  It means that we are seeing hope that Obama will have the backing of groups not typically supporting a democratic president.  With luck, this means that the conservative movement won't be able to start backstabbing Obama before his first day in office, as they did Clinton.
