I am trying to picture a contrite neoconservative who is as busy retracting the positions he held during the last 30 years, repeatedly, energetically, and with intellectual credibility, as he was in forcing those positions on the economic and political elites of America.

I am having a hard time visualising it. Greenspan was a start. Fukuyama is a foot forward.

But unless these "intellectual" leaders of the right in political economics begin to PERSUADE their followers and "we the common citizens," that they have led us down a deadend tunnel, forgiveness will be tough. We will be paying for their errors for decades. The American Way of Life is finally at risk, certainly diminished, and its their fault.

I am not yet in a forgiving mood, but I may be able to get there if I see enough self-repudiation from the neocon economists and foreign policy gurus. In the meantime, we still have to defend ourselves against the people these neocom geniuses have whacked with a stick, and that means a two-front war for a time, both Economic and political.

I am convinced Obama can do it, but he will need all the help ALL Americans can give. Neocons, jump aboard early!
