  •  concern trolling about the presidential election (0+ / 0-)
    We are Americans.

we have freedom in our travel, work, speak, and support our candidates.

There is a quirky rigged system called the electoral college which was originally designed to favor certain regions, certain classes of voters (wealthy landholders, etc) over the rabble or poorer property holders that owned below a certain threshold. (many states required property or income to qualify to vote, not only being male).

The electoral college system can be gamed, a minority of the popular vote can still win if certain key states go to one candidate.

If a prospective voter complies with state requirements as published on their forms, what's the difference? The complaints in this diary are slanted to favor the appeals of those gaming the system in this case from the republican side.

Why does every disagreement turn into charges of "concern trolling"? We need a new Godwin's Law about the odds of concern-troll accusations appearing in a debate thread.

      •  It reduces to this for me. (0+ / 0-)

Ethically and by intent,I agree with your criticism of the volunteers who were not content with registering groups of others but put in an absentee ballot themselves.

They shouldn't have done that unless they also affirmed, by affadavit or getting a local address that they intended at some point to make Ohio their home.

Now renting a home for several months satisfies the letter of the law.

Being students in ongoing programs, internships, etc,
they may end up travelling quite a bit. It may make sense to change their registration frequently, or keep Ohio as their home for the next several years.

As a Democratic partisan, that might be best. Or they might not be Democrats but small "d" democrats and not really affiliated with a party.

The attention FOX and by extension some on this thread are giving this really demeans all the good work for the sake of a handful of questionable, but not illegitimate votes. Paint their entire effort in the worst possible light, like Greta van Sustern and the Hannity slime bag.
