    I don't know how much of this is taught in schools, but it should be

    Last year I did a presentation on Chile for a group of 6th graders, and they were fascinated by the way that people in the poor neighbourhoods used pots and pans to protest Pinochet -- it is a great age to learn about social movements

    Once social change begins,it cannot be reversed. You cannot uneducate the person who has learned to read...You cannot oppress people who are not afraid anymore.
