    Which is why I welcome what the mayor did.  And I know that some of the changes I've made came about the same way.

    At the same time, there are certain things that don't seem that abstract to me.  On the issue of marriage equality, even if I didn't know any gay people personally, it's the right thing to do out of basic fairness, because I know such couples exist in the general sense.

    But, as I said, progress is progress.

    Procrastination: Hard work often pays off after time, but laziness always pays off now.

      Not solely.

      But, for example, Blakeman trying to back track his "dictator" slander out of fear that the blog blowback is to my mind a positive result as well.

      I'd laugh at the idea that he was abandoning the political smear tactics, but that he has to begin calculating the cost higher is a step in the right direction.

        What's most important is the change.

        What I'm trying to say is that I understand the frustration that can come about when the issue appears to be such an obvious case of fairness (of course, the operative word here being "appears").
